Biweekly notes: 28th March 2021

I normally love the last two weeks of March. Noticing the gentle move towards lighter evenings. The blossom appearing. The official date marking spring on the 21st, along with my most favourite marker— the clocks moving forward.

But the last two weeks have been hard. Difficult to pinpoint exactly why. I should feel great.

  • We are finally moving towards a change in the lockdown restrictions.
  • I’ve made some great new connections with people doing great things.
  • I’ve taken part in some thoughtful workshops led by colleagues.

I just feel deeply troubled about social justice.

Seeing too many people jump on the band wagon. Holding space. Co-oping. Taking ownership. Too much leaning in. Not really helping. All this noticing is draining all my positivity and energy. It’s hard not to see. I can’t just turn it off. The challenge feels never ending and I’m exhausted, having to adapt all the time, having to be resilient.

I’m going to try a shift for the next quarter. Pivot again. Manoeuvring around systemic racism is a long term job. I must pace myself. Will stop with biweekly notes for now. Before I go….

The reading, watching and listening that kept me going:
